Waka Flocka Flame thinks Atlanta artists should be playing Super Bowl LIII
Waka Flocka Flame doesn’t think Maroon 5 should be headlining the
halftime show for Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, he thinks it should be
someone from the city’s storied rap community.
“I think for the Super Bowl you should have someone from Atlanta
representing Atlanta,” he told TMZ. “Just because the Super Bowl’s here
so we could give them that spice.”
The Atlanta rapper, 32, didn’t just come to complain either, he had suggestions as to who the league could’ve booked instead.
“I think they should have somebody like Migos, Future,” he said. “I
could come play ‘Hard in da Paint.’ They need somebody from Atlanta in
there. It’s only right.”
But it doesn’t surprise Waka that the NFL would overlook the city and
its musical legacy. “It’s not fair, but this is the NFL we’re talking
about,” he said. “They’re not fair.”
“You coming to ‘the biggest black state in America,’ ” he added. “Why won’t you let a black artist perform?”
It should be noted that the lineup for the halftime show hasn’t been
fully finalized. Billboard reports that the league is looking into
adding rappers Cardi B and Travis Scott to the bill, though neither of
them is from Atlanta.
But Waka was quick to stress that he has nothing against Adam Levine and
company, he just wishes the NFL would’ve looked at the city hosting the
event for the night’s entertainment.
“Maroon 5?” he said. “They legends but let’s be real.”
