Donna Karan talks impact of clothing industry on environment
Donna Karan wants to save the world from the fashion industry.
The design legend hosted a conference at her Urban Zen store in the West
Village about the impact that clothing production has on the
environment, with guests including designers Mara Hoffman and Julie
Gilhart, branding guru Desiree Gruber, photographer Pamela Hanson and
supermodel Paulina Porizkova, as well as CNN’s Don Lemon, Ann
Dexter-Jones, Adrian Grenier, Dorothea Bongiovi and Andrew Chapman.
During a panel at the Change Fashion event, the org’s scientific adviser
Linda Greer said, “It is on the shoulders of the [fashion] companies to
take upon themselves the responsibility to manufacture in a way that
minimizes damage to the environment.”
