A busload of IDF military police was attacked after mistakenly entering
the Kalandiya refugee camp outside of Jerusalem on Sunday, the IDF
Spokesperson’s Unit said.
A female officer and two soldiers who were in the vehicle were wounded
by stones, the IDF said. Security forces rescued the troops and returned
them to Israeli territory, and the wounded were evacuated to
Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek for medical treatment.Israeli border police
arrested three Palestinian suspects who threw stones in the incident, a
police statement said. Two of those arrested were residents of Ramallah
and Kalandia, and the third suspect did not have identifying documents.
Last February, a military vehicle that mistakenly entered the West Bank
city of Jenin was pelted with massive stones by dozens of Palestinians,
who also physically attacked the soldiers inside the vehicle.
The soldiers were rescued from the mob with the aid of Palestinian
security forces and brought to the IDF. Two soldiers were wounded in
that incident, one of whom was evacuated to a nearby hospital for
medical treatment. The second soldier’s weapon was stolen.
